Issues
Taxation and Budgets
Idaho’s state budget has grown by 60% in the past years, outpacing population growth by a very large margin. I remain strongly opposed to any tax increase and will always vote to reduce our budget and stop out-of-control spending. I also stand opposed to appropriations that accept federal funding as the US National Debt is currently at $38.6 trillion.
As one of Idaho’s most fiscally conservative lawmakers, I co-sponsored:
HB40 - the income tax rate reduction bill
HB260 - Grocery Tax Repeal bill
SCR101 - resolution to reject the massive 22% legislator pay increase
Voted to kill sixteen “wish list” enhancement appropriation bills
Voted to pass HB304 – providing $100M in property tax relief to Idahoans
Education
I believe in the fundamental right for parents to choose the method of how their child is educated. I will always fight to keep government regulations out of home and private sector education. Constitutionally, the legislature is required to provide a free form of public education, and I remain committed to logical and conservative education reforms that provide real improvement to Idaho’s consistently sub-standard education system. I also stand for protecting a girl’s right to privacy and safety in bathrooms and sports.
The Constitution
I took an oath as both a US Navy sailor and as your State Representative to uphold and defend the U.S. and Idaho State Constitutions. I believe that our rights are endowed by our Creator and will valiantly fight to stand against all government tyranny.
As a pro-liberty legislator, I fought hard to keep police state-expansion legislation out of Idaho.
Pro-Life
I believe that human life starts at conception, and I stand firmly opposed to the barbaric act of abortion and medical-assisted euthanasia.
As an abortion abolitionist lawmaker, I co-sponsored SB1059 – The Prenatal Equal Protection Act.
Medical Freedom
I firmly believe in a person's right to bodily autonomy and maintain that healthcare is a personal and private decision. I stand firmly opposed to any mandate or law issued by government or any other institution that requires or forces a person to take any medical intervention.
As a pro-medical freedom legislator, I fought hard to pass the landmark SB1210 – known as The Medical Freedom Act, which codifies the right for people to make medical decisions for themselves.
Government
Our government, by design of the founding fathers, was to be limited in size and scope of power. Our representative republic is designed to be run by the citizens. We the People consent power to the elected, and they are obligated to serve the People and abide by their oath to protect and defend the Constitution.
Destructive Climate Policies
So-called “green” initiatives and climate change policies are false advertising and impose significant damage to the environment we live, recreate, and work in. Massive wind and solar farms are incredibly costly to build and maintain, displace wildlife, leach harmful chemicals into the ground, and are heavily funded through government subsidies (tax dollars). I will oppose any legislation that seeks to fund any “green” initiatives or advance climate change activism.
